Ex-TAMIN official, wife, maid servant killed

| A retired government employee, his wife and a teenaged maidservant were found murdered in the second floor of their house in upmarket Ashok Nagar on Thursday morning. The bureaux in the house at Natesan street were found ransacked and unknown quantity of gold — kept in nearly 20 jewel boxes — were also found missing, according to sources. The victims were identified as 76-year-old Saravanan, a retired senior executive of Tamil Nadu Minerals Ltd (TAMIN), his wife Kasthuri, aged 74, and servant Anbarasi, 17. According to the police, the murder could have taken place between 11 pm Wednesday and 4 am Thursday. Mr Unnikrishnan, working in TAMIN, who helps Mr Saravanan in his daily chores, was the first person to notice the murder when he arrived at around 6 am. |
